Coat Racks and Hall Stands

A hall stand, or coat rack  is an ideal project at this time of year preparing for the cooler months ahead.

Everybody needs to rack or hang a winter coat, beany, scarf, umbrella, or that extra layer of clothing that usually gets “stuffed” in the cupboard.

This is a five Day course.

No experience required.

The focus of this course is to :

Begin with a rough sawn board of your personal choice.

Begin by:

Surface planing, thicknessing, sawing, jointing, shaping, detail sanding, applying hardware and finishing.

The Sassafras coat rack displayed here “evolved” over several days.

The shape was inspired by the beautiful colours and patterns in the timber

The hardware (not included in the price) was purchased from Fragments in Hobart. Tasmania.
